'Goosebumps' Movie: Author R.L. Stine Has Some Advice For Jack Black, Plus Some 'Goosebumps' Halloween Treats (VIDEO)

"Goosebumps" fans of all ages are just dying to relive their childhood and see their favorite creepy characters brought to life just in time for Halloween. With R.L. Stine's books being such a huge hit, it was only a matter of time before they were somehow transformed to the big screen. While a series of movies could have worked, or maybe even just one fan-favorite, the idea of every single book jammed into one movie was the most genius idea ever, and who better than Jack Black to play a young Stine himself.

While there's a lot of pressure on Black to recreate this spooky author's early life and crazy creative mind, the only person he really cared abut impressing was Stine himself, and Stine wanted to make sure he got it just right.

"[Stine] was beside himself," the 46-year-old actor told People of his reaction. "That was the main critic that I was concerned with pleasing. Like, how does R.L. Stine feel about the movie of his books, you know? The fact that he flipped out over it was just like golden nuggets from the sky."

While the children's horror fiction novels were scary for the appropriate age group, Stine still wants to make sure they keep his stories spooky, just in a fun way.

"[Stine's] advice was just make sure it's not too scary," Black continued. "He's real careful about that. His stuff is scary, and kids that read the books are scared, but he knows the line not to cross. He was just warning us to also be mindful because you want to scare, but you don't want to traumatize."

Judging by the trailer, they did a perfect job at giving Stine what he wanted. The film definitely tells the spooky tales of the several monsters from Stine's books without having them fall fully under the horror category. It's a scary movie, in the most magical and entertaining way, and the tiny jokes and awesome cast will keep viewers really enjoying it while still leaving them with a few goosebumps.

"I'm really proud of it. I don't think I've ever been in a better movie," Black said. "People that read [the books] when they were kids will still be interested and not be like, 'I've outgrown that.'"
