Bradley Cooper and other A-List celebrities showed their support and praised Jennifer Lawrence for speaking out against the gender wage gap in Hollywood.
Earlier this week, Lawrence wrote an essay titled "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?" in her friend Lena Dunham's newsletter on the revelations from the Sony hack that the actress earned considerably less than her male co-stars in "American Hustle," as HNGN previously reported."When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d---s, I didn't get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself," J-Law wrote in the essay. "I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn't want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don't need."
"If you think that you only deserve a certain amount and that's not correct, it's about changing that mindset and sticking up for yourself the way that Sienna [Miller] did," said Cooper, according to People. "So that's a great thing."
"There's a double standard in the whole world, yeah, for sure. This is just one aspect," he added, according to Entertainment Tonight. "Anytime there's a place where a voice can come out and be outspoken - something Sienna did, or Jennifer - that's great. ... I think it is making a difference."
Cooper has starred alongside Lawrence in many films, including "Silver Linings Playbook," "American Hustle" and the upcoming "Joy."
Miller, who joined Cooper for the interview to promote their new film "Burnt," revealed that just last month she turned down a Broadway role because she was being offered "less than half" of what her male co-stars were going to make.
Emma Watson, who has been very vocal about her distaste for the unequal treatment of women in the film industry, shower her support for Lawrence on Twitter.
Jessica Chastain and Elizabeth Banks also expressed their support on the social media platform.
