The iconic 1980s television show "The A Team" is being developed into a new series for 20th Century Fox, reported Variety. The revived project offers a contemporary take on the NBC series and is executive produced by "Fast & Furious" writer and producer Chris Morgan.
Like the original show, the new series centers on a diverse team of American Special Forces operatives, reported Deadline. The original series featured an all male crew of four men, but the new series features both male and female team members. In the updated version, the group is framed for a crime it did not commit and set out on a mission to clear their names. The series plays out in a mission-of-the-week format complete with big action and compelling characters.
A feature film version of "The A-Team" was released in 2010 and starred Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson. The film grossed about $77 million at the domestic box office. The original "A-Team" series aired on NBC from 1983-1987 and introduced the world to Mr. T, reported TheWrap. The original series also starred George Peppard, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz.
Albert Kim is set to write the script for the pilot episode. Tawnia McKiernan, the daughter of original "A-Team" creator Stephen J. Cannell, is also on board.
