While the Hulk sits out "Captain America: Civil War," Mark Ruffalo will return as the green giant in "Thor: Ragnarok," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
JoBlo.com first reported the casting, which also includes the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif alongside Chris Hemsworth's Thor. "Ragnarok" is set to premiere in 2017.
Ruffalo last appeared as the Hulk in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," taking off in a Quinjet that possibly went down in the ocean. Both he and Hemsworth won't show up in the upcoming "Civil War."
"Thor: Ragnarok" will find Thor facing what amounts to the Norse Apocalypse and the movie will reportedly feature a "distant planet," which could lead to the long-rumored Planet Hulk storyline. Marvel can't use the plotline in a solo film in the immediate future as Universal still holds the distribution rights for the character.
Taika Waititi will direct the Marvel sequel, which is moving quickly into pre-production.
"Thor: Ragnarok" will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
