Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is just a few short months away and fans may be treated to a new trailer as soon as Monday. But even if a new full length trailer does drop, "Star Wars" fans will still be eager for any and all information regarding "The Force Awakens." Oddly enough, the film's merchandise may be the source of some interesting tidbits.
In a new trading card depicting Chewbacca in action, there is an image showing the Wookie co-piloting the Millennium Falcon next to none other than Daisy Ridley's Rey. This has spurred some debate as to why Han old buddy isn't there.
Someone else piloting the Falcon isn't exactly news in the "Star Wars" franchise. Chewie, Leia and Lando have all taken turns behind the wheel when Han was otherwise indisposed. But it's still curious to see a new trilogy character in such an iconic spot.
If you've been following along with the "Star Wars" rumor mill, you may have heard that (ULTIMATE SPOILER ALERT!!!) Han Solo is killed at the hands of Adam Driver's Kylo Ren in "The Force Awakens." While this remains unconfirmed, it would make sense as to why Rey is the one in the cockpit.
Adding fuel to the fire is the ongoing speculation surrounding Rey's parentage. Many out there believe she is the child of Han and Leia, which means she'd likely feel right at home in the Falcon. Still, this is all just theorizing at this point so take it with a grain of salt.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is due out in theaters on December 18.
