Rosie O'Donnell is back to being a single woman. People confirmed that the 53-year-old former "The View" host and partner actress Tatum O'Neal have split after four months of dating.
A source told the publication that the couple, who never publicly confirmed their relationship, parted ways following O'Donnell's family drama this summer - including her father's death from cancer in August and O'Donnell's adoptive daughter, Chelsea, running away and later moving out to go live with her birth mother.
O'Donnell's drama reportedly put a strain on their relationship.
"They broke up. It wasn't working. In their four months together, they went through a lot: Rosie's father died, her daughter [Chelsea] ran away, there was a lot of tumult. It was too much," a source told People.
The source added, "Tatum wouldn't mind meeting a nice girl. She is back on the market."
However, a rep for O'Donnell insisted that they were never in a relationship, but "they're friends." In September, a source likewise told People that "they are friends and nothing more."
In September, they were seen together taking a boat trip in West Palm Beach, Fla. A source told People, "They seem crazy about each other. It's mutual. They've been seeing each other for about three months. They have known each other for many years but this has turned into more than a friendship."
In early August, O'Donnell and O'Neal were spotted on a date at the Broadway musical "Hamilton" and later seen enjoying dinner at Da Silvano in New York City. A representative for O'Donnell told Access Hollywood that the two have been friends since meeting while filming separate shows for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.
In March, O'Donnell filed for divorce from her estranged wife Michelle Rounds, citing "an irretrievably broken relationship" as the reason for the ending her nearly three-year marriage.
"I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November," O'Donnell's rep Cindi Berger said in a statement, according to Page Six. "Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.'"
