Google Nexus ‘Gem’ Smartwatch Release Date: Google Announcing ‘Gem’ Smartwatch with Android Kitkat

According to Android Police, the rumored Google Gem will be unveiled towards the end of the month and may turn out to be a big launch after all. For one thing, people are becoming more and more open to the wearable device industry and have become excited with how the huge companies such as Apple are exploring this field.

The Google Gem smartwatch rumor seemed to be an interesting one as it somehow shows alignment to the previously rumored device known as the Motorola x Watch. The latter has been said to launch side by side with Moto X but since Google owns Motorola, the mother company has opted to give the watch a Google-wide release instead. According to the latest news, the x Watch is being integrated well with the Moto X. If it does get a Google-wide release, its compatibility would be stretched out further to a larger set of Android devices.

At this point, we are all very familiar with how the Samsung Galaxy Gear watch appears like. However, the watch seemed to bear several compromises that make everyone assume that it does not live up to what future smartwatches should look like. Hopefully, Google will prove itself to be different from the rest and will keep consumers awed with this new device. Nokia is also reportedly working on its own smartwatch as well.

Google has not confirmed any of the rumors about the “Gem” smartwatch despite of it being talked about for a month now.
