Apple CEO Tim Cook has stated that the anticipated latest iteration of the Apple TV will be available at the end of next week, with pre-orders starting Monday, Oct. 26. The CEO revealed the release date at the WASJD Live event, which was organized by the Wall Street Journal earlier this week, reports U Switch.
During the event, Cook stated that with the fourth, and latest version of the Apple TV, the company had "developed an infrastructure to fix [a] terrible broken thing that none of us like," referring to linear programming.
The new device features a number of pertinent upgrades, such as Siri for voice control and a new remote control equipped with a touchpad that can recognize gesture controls, according to Ars Technica.
Though the new Apple TV does not support 4K video, the internals of the device are an upgrade from its predecessor, especially its capability to access a fully fledged app store for video streaming and games.
The new Apple TV starts at $149 for the 32GB model. Its upgraded sibling, with 64GB, is priced at $199. Budget-conscious customers should not worry though, since Apple will continue to produce and sell the third generation Apple TV, which costs an affordable $69.
