App Finds Missing Student: Friends Use iPhone App To Find, Save Missing Georgia Tech Student

A student from Georgia Tech went missing after a party on Friday, and thanks to the efforts of his friends and a useful app, he was found injured - but alive - two days later, according to USA Today.

James "Jimmy" Hubert, a 24-year-old engineering student, went missing after leaving a party. Luckily, he left with his date's phone as well, which had an app installed called "Find My iPhone."

Over the weekend, his friends worked diligently to piece together the pieces of the puzzle to track him down, taking a screenshot of the last place her phone was checkmarked before the phone turned off, according to ABC News.

His friends located him face down near train tracks.

"We were about to turn around and then I said there was a shaded area you know over in the ditch and I said 'What's that?' and then sure enough it was Jimmy," said one of Hubert's friends, Emma Jeffery.

Jeffery said that the scene was so shocking that she thought her friend was dead.

"He was face down, laying down...," she said. "His head was turned to the side, his eyes were open, he wasn't speaking at first."

Authorities say the Hubert's injuries were minor and that they weren't sure what caused the injuries, according to ABC13.
