Fans were outraged after E.L. James announced that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey." Many people believed both were completely wrong for the roles and fans might not be alone.
Cosmopolitan magazine caught up with facial features expert, Jean Haner, to find out if Hunnam and Johnson are perfect for the roles... according to their faces. The results might actually surprise you.
First up, Johnson who has received the harshest backlash out of the two. According to Haner's results Johnson has the perfect face to match Steele's personality. She has deep-set eyes and a well-defined nose which usually means she is more introverted than extroverted, her strong jaw line also means she has a strong sex drive.
The expert also points out Johnson's high cheeks which is believed to be a sign that she isn't afraid to speak her mind. Even though Steele was shy and reserved she did often tell Grey exactly how she felt, especially when it came time for her to sign the contract.
Johnson also has somewhat straighter eyebrows which Haner said is a sign that she is a no-nonsense type of person and very practical.
Now for Hunnam. Does the "Sons of Anarchy" star have Christian Grey written all over him?
Haner believes the 33-year-old actor is totally wrong to play the billionaire, Cosmo reports. According to the results Hunnam doesn't have Grey's domineering, kinky behavior. That doesn't mean that Hunnam won't be able to search inside himself and nail the part. These results are based off how they look and not acting ability.
Haner said Hunnam's slightly rounded hairline indicates that he is more of a homebody and wants to start a family. That's not too far off from Grey. He lives in a "fortress" and isn't too keen to being around people either.
The facial expert also noted that the actor has a wide face and full lips which hints that he has entrepreneurial ambition but "not at the level of Christian's" and would treat his workers more like family. That is defiantly not Grey. His full lips again hint at someone who is family orientated and is interested in making his lover happy but not to the point of controlling her.
Haner does say that Hunnam channels a little bit of the BDSM-obsessed billionaire in his facial features.
"His nose is refined, which shows someone who wants to achieve something important in life, but who might be a bit controlling in relationship," Haner said. "And also his jaw is on the larger side, which shows a strong sexual drive and a possible tendency to be dominating in a relationship."
