TMZ is reporting, as of midday Friday, that Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson's Tarzana, CA home was the scene of a "violent home invasion" last week. Per TMZ, "4 to 5 people stormed the home with guns," and several people inside Jackson's home - Jackson, who was not in California at the time, not included - fought back against the intruders.
The report also suggests that police believe the attack may have been gang related, though the target was not Jackson, but another person staying in the house. One person is said to have been left with minor injuries.
It has been suggested in the past that Jackson, who is from Southern California, associates with gang members, though he has vehemently denied on several occasions that he is not himself, involved in gang activity. In a July 2014 interview with ESPN, Jackson admitted to Cord Jefferson that he did, in fact, associate with "certain people" who did and do "certain things," but refused to discuss anything beyond that.
It was rumored that Jackson's alleged gang ties were "troubling" to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that drafted Jackson in the second-round of the 2008 NFL Draft, and may have contributed to their surprising decision to release him after the 2013 season. Those rumors were never confirmed though, and Jackson signed with the Eagles' NFC East rivals, the Redskins, that offseason.
Jackson, who is currently the star of his own reality show, "DeSean Jackson: Home Team," has been seen on various episodes engaging in behavior that would likely cause Redskins fans to curse under their breath. And while that, in and of itself, is not a reason to suggest that Jackson does, in fact, carry gang affiliations, there's no doubting that Jackson's own mother, Gayle, and sister, A'Dreea, worry greatly over his friends and his off-field decision-making.
