Former Soviet Leader Vladimir Lenin's statue in Odessa, Ukraine, has recently received a makeover and was transformed into Darth Vader, the villain in the "Star Wars" saga. This makeover is in light of Ukraine's new legislation that prohibits any representation of the nation's past as a communist country. The newly implemented laws have taken effect in April.
It was expected beforehand that the Lenin statue at the Black Sea city would undergo a makeover. It was local artist Alexander Milov who decided that Darth Vader was an apt model for the transformation, since the seventh installment of the "Star Wars Saga," "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," will premiere on Dec. 18, according to the International Business Times.
Only Lenin's head was replaced with Darth Vader's famous helmet, while the body of the Darth Vader statue was molded with some new material like titanium alloy for the helmet and cape and painted black to fit the image of Luke and Leia's estranged father.
"The Bronze Lenin was left inside, so that the grateful or not so grateful descendants could exhume him, if needed," said Milov, according to Ukraine Today.
The Darth Vader statue is sure to make his visitors feel the force, since it will also provide free internet.
"Everything flows and nothing abides," says Semyon Horbunov, the head of the installation and warehouse manager where the statue was erected, according to Dumskaya. "New heroes replace old ones, and this is how the world goes round."
