CNN news anchor Don Lemon and CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin got involved in a heated exchange on air on Monday over a video wherein a deputy and school police officer pushed a 16-year-old female student at a high school in South Carolina.
"There's no excuse for what he's doing to her," Lemon said. "But again, we don't know - we don't know - this only shows a small slice of time."
Lemon added that he would like to know more about what went down with the incident before he could pass judgment, to which Hostin snapped back: "Are you guys kidding me?"
"We're not. We need to know more," was what Lemon replied. Hostin then slammed the news anchor, telling him that there is no need to know more.
"The law provides that the standard here is whether the officer used reasonable force - whether it's necessary," Hostin said, the Examiner reported.
School resources officer and police deputy Ben Fields flipped a 16-year-old female student off her desk then threw her across the classroom when she became troublesome and defied her teacher and administrator when they told her to leave.
The officer was subsequently fired from his post on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. It remains to be seen whether or not he will face charges for the incident.
