McDonald's is launching a new pulled-pork sandwich (they refer to it as a burger) at select restaurants in Switzerland that takes four hours to prepare.
The sandwich doesn't actually take four hours to make, but the featured Swiss pork shoulder it uses does, which is allegedly slow-cooked until it's "so tender, it simply falls apart," the company said, according to Business Insider.
The meat is marinated in barbecue sauce and topped with mixed vegetables, apple slices and a garlic spread.
"With the pulled pork burger, we are combining slow food with our fast, friendly service," Thomas Truttman, VP of Marketing at McDonald's Switzerland, said in a news release.
McDonald's is testing the new sandwich in 25 of its restaurants in Zurich and Geneva before releasing it nationwide, according to the Examiner.
The fast food chain's restaurants briefly offered pulled-pork sandwiches for a limited time at 90 restaurants in Michigan and Indiana this summer.
Don't be disheartened if you don't live in Switzerland and you're left out of the loop, as McDonald's has new offerings that seem to be going fairly well so far. Select restaurants are offering a premium buttermilk crispy chicken bacon clubhouse sandwich that is reportedly superior to its Jack In The Box counterpart, while 39 others in Texas are testing sweet potato fries as part of its "Create Your Taste" menu.
McDonald's pulled-pork sandwich is the burger giant's latest attempt to attract new customers as well as retain those it already has. This move is preceded by the nationwide launch of the all-day breakfast menu, which started on Oct. 6.
