Nicki Minaj shared two Halloween posts to her Instagram this past weekend that might have seemed completely innocent to her, but were taken the wrong way by many of her followers.
While dressed as a revealing fairy princess, Minaj, 32, posted a video of herself and her friends having some fun with her fairy wand. In the 15-second clip, which has since been deleted, the rapper waves her wand at someone who looks to be disabled and in an electric wheel chair as she says, "I command you to walk," according to New York Daily News. She and her friends all crack up after the command, but her followers didn't see any humor in it as the comment section quickly filled with people calling her out for making fun of a disabled person.
Once she realized just how much backlash she was getting for the video, she decided to take it down and inform her followers that it wasn't what it seemed. "Lol. That's NOT a disabled person and u know that. Are u that desperate for attention?" she tweeted at Perez Hilton, who had shared his own article claiming that Minaj used the wand to "command" a disabled person to walk.
"@NICKIMINAJ updated the post a few min ago," Hilton replied. "And how was I supposed to know a person in a wheelchair ISN'T disabled?" Minaj shot right back at him writing, "Bitch, u knew. That's my friend in a scooter. Have a great day. I surely will."
As if this wasn't enough drama for one weekend, she then went on to post a photo of what appears to be a screenshot of producer DJ Clue's photo of someone dressed as Bill Cosby putting drugs into the drink of an unconscious woman, according to Billboard. "Our generation is so desensitized," Minaj captioned the photo. "This gotta stop #PillCosby," adding several laughing emoji.
Followers quickly criticized her for finding something this serious so funny. Over the past year, more than 50 women have come forward as victims of sexual assault from Cosby, and while Minaj did do a good job at pointing out how messed up people can be, it was the fact that she found the costume humorous that angered fans. The photo still remains on her page, but she has deleted the emojis leaving only "Our generation is so desensitized" as the caption.
