The Tomorrow People Season Premiere Review: Rivalry, Love Triangle and Family Drama; Three Things That Make This A Good Show

“The Tomorrow People” finally aired Wednesday and viewers everywhere were watching and hoping to see if executive producer Phil Klemmer’s statements were true.

Klemmer recently told Entertainment Weekly that “there’s a couple of things that makes this [show] different than pretty people with powers.”

Fortunately for him and us viewers, he’s right. Here are three very important things that “The Tomorrow” people bring to the table:

No. 1—An Important Rivalry

The CW is known for putting two of its main male characters against each other regardless of whether or not they’re on the same team or arch enemies (Klaus and Marcel in “The Originals”, Stefan and Damon in “The Vampire Diaires” and possibly Francis and Bash in “Reign”). So it’s no surprise that Stephen (Robbie Amell) and John (Luke Mitchell) could become rivals—rivals for control of John's team and rivals for Cara’s (Peyton List) affection.

No. 2—Family Drama

The whole “my uncle might want to kill me” thing is a nice touch to the story since family drama is always a plus when creating a show. Add the fact that Stephen's father may still be alive and there’s enough family drama to last the series (which I’m pretty sure was the point).

No. 3—An Unexpected Twist

Just like a guy named Thomas told EOnline, there are probably many of us who didn’t see Stephen’s decision coming. And as EOnline told Thomas we should get ready for more of the “double agent fun” that was produced from that decision.

“The Tomorrow People” airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
