Police in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., are investigating a case of a pill found inside a Snickers bar that a 13-year-old girl received while trick or treating at the Galleria's Malloween event, according to Pix 11.
"This could have gone a totally different way," said Joann Turner of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. "If she ate candy that was contaminated, we could be in a hospital right now trying to figure out what happened. Luckily, my daughter was able to catch it."
Turner's daughter saw that the chocolate bar had already been opened.
"It was separated at the ends," added Turner. "It looked like it was carefully opened and slipped back in. The ends had been sliced with something like a razor or a knife." The candy had a horizontal cut and there she found a pink pill with "4" written on it.

"I couldn't believe it happened in my backyard," said Turner, according to Complex. "I am really shocked. I have always checked my children's candy and never found anything. Luckily, my paranoia caused my daughter to question why the package was opened."
The police are still investigating the nature of the pill and advised parents to check the contents of their children's candy before consuming them. The management of the Poughkeepsie Galleria is cooperating with the investigation.
