Miley Cyrus is promoting the release of her fourth album "Bangerz," but also speaking out about something a little more personal she has yet to address to the public: the end of her engagement.
Cyrus and ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth had been dating since 2009 when he proposed to her in 2012. The couple should have wed by now, but decided earlier this year to postpone the wedding. On Sept. 16, the couple announced the end of their engagement, just in time for the release of Cyrus' newest album and Hemsworth's next "Hunger Games" film.
Neither party seems to be hurting too much from the break, and Cyrus' explained to Ellen DeGeneres on her television show that she is the "happiest she's ever been."
"You know, for me, I really haven't gotten to see anyone right now. 'Cause I've been so crazy busy, I'm just letting that chapter kind of close and just looking forward to that new one," Cyrus told DeGeneres. "I want to be really clear and determined with everything I'm doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I'm the happiest I've ever been and that's not even a dig. That's just me, because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone, and I'm obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts."
Cyrus also believes people spend more time thinking about her failed engagement than she does.
"I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now," she said. "I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."
Cyrus' told DeGeneres she has not been in contact with Hemsworth since their break up. Hemsworth has also kept busy as well with rumored new girl, Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez. However, Hemsworth has yet to comment about Cyrus or Gonzalez publicly.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show will feature Miley Cyrus on Oct. 11. Check your local listings for show times.
