Holiday entertainment began with Halloween, and there's more to come after this until the New Year's celebration. Is your home prepped up for this? Are you ready to take on more?
There's no need for elaborate preparations or decorations if you're expecting house guests soon, but you have to make sure that your house is presentable and your guests are comfortable and cozy. Here are some suggestions for preparing your house for more holiday entertainment:
1) Throw Pillows
Replace your throw pillows with a more appropriate print and design. They could be holiday-themed, such as the ones from Zazzle or Pottery Barn. The pillows could also be textured to add more warmth and ambiance, such as the ones from West Elm.
2) Blankets
In the same manner, replace your couch blankets with one that has a better texture. Fleece, flannel, silk, wool or alpaca - the choices are endless. Which one is better than the other? Apartment Therapy listed the differences among these materials.
3) Accent Pieces
Decorate with accent pieces, like candles and vases. Gold seems to be a favorite for the holidays, as it denotes elegance. But other metal accents like champagne, copper and brass work well too, according to The Dallas Morning News. If you're not fond of metallic hints, decorate rooms with pensive autumn and winter tones in shades of mustard and burnt orange, sage or white, according to Coco Contest Magazine.
4) Outdoor Decorations
Make sure the outside of your home is just as cozy as the indoors by sprucing up the area with similar accent pieces and themes. Outdoor furniture should have the same warm touch, and be sure to provide enough protection from the heat and bugs for your guests, if you live in a warmer climate.
5) Bathroom Prep
Don't forget to glitz up the bathroom too and provide your guests with fresh towels, toilet paper and soaps. Keep the theme going by putting some decorative pieces in there as well.
