Recent reports from earlier this week seem certain that Apple is planning an invitation only press event on Oct. 22 that will likely focus heavily on the unveiling of the new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. However, this will also provide the perfect launch date for OS X Mavericks and the new Mac Pro.
Apple unveiled the new operating system for Mac devices earlier in June at its World Wide Developer's Conference. The OS X Mavericks, the first operating system for Macs not to be named after some kind of cat, boasts several new features including a new Maps app, a tabbed finder window, iBooks, a new calendar, improved Safari, iCloud Keychain, improvements for multiple display support and new automatic power-saving options.
According to TechCrunch, the timing is right for a release of a new Mac operating system. The previous os was released at a similar press event last year held on Oct. 23 and the company has previously slated OS X Mavericks for a 'fall' release.
As mentioned, the main focus of the event will be to showcase new iPads, a highly anticipated product unveiling for all those who are fans of the latest and greatest tablets from Apple. The iPad mini 2 is expected to come with a retina display and the full-sized model will take a few design queues from the first generation iPad mini and will be slimmer.
In addition, leaked images, shown below, show an iPad in the new color from Apple "space gray" featured on the new iPhone 5S.
Apple will likely announce the release date of OS X Mavericks along with the new Map Pro, which was also announced at the World Wide Developer's Conference in June. Some believe the company will take this opportunity to unveil the much rumored iWatch as well.
