Miranda Lambert's hairstylist is setting the record straight about her client's pink hair. The debate started after the country diva sported her new colorful hairdo at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards Wednesday.
Oddly enough, Lambert's new hairstyle lead social media users to speculate that it was the country's star's way of dissing Gwen Stefani, who also sported a pink hairstyle years ago. However, Lambert's hairstylist Johnny Lavoy reminded Us Weekly readers that pink has always been his client's favorite color.
"It's no secret that Miranda's favorite color is pink. She owns a store named the Pink Pistol, and her tour was named Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars," Lavoy, who has been working with Lambert for four years, told Us Weekly.
Lavoy also told the site that he was the person who suggested the "White Lair" singer try a bubblegum color for the award show "because of the risk involved."
"I thought the smartest plan would be to make some clip-in extensions. I used light blonde Lox extensions, then painted on soft pink Joico semi-permanent hair color in an ombre style. The end result was soft but edgy, and chic," he explained. "This was the first time Miranda played with a bold color, and she loved it, so I don't think it will be the last!"
Ironically, Lambert debuted her new pink hair a day after her ex-husband Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani confirmed their relationship. "Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating," Stefani's spokesperson told Us Weekly.
While Lambert has yet to comment on the breakup or her ex-husband's new love interest, she did give an emotional acceptance speech after winning Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards.
"Man, I appreciate it. I needed a bright spot this year, so thank you. I love country music fans," she said. "I'm gonna go home and practice. Thank y'all very much, I love y'all."
