Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) still have a threat hanging over their potential marriage—Alexis (Molly Quinn).
Katic recently discussed with TVLine.com the rumors that Castle’s daughter could be the reason Castle and Beckett split. She said whatever issues Alexis is dealing with, her and her father will hash it out.
“I think that this is a matter for a father and daughter, and a daughter knows that no matter what the father is, he’s going to be the same, in spite of the fact that he’s entering into a new relationship,” Katic told TVLine.
Fans found out about Alexis’ potential plot earlier this month when Molly Quinn said she didn’t see the Castle and Beckett wedding happening any time soon, according to EOnline. Quinn even hinted that her character would try to stop the impending nuptials, the website reported.
Will Castle and Beckett ever get married?
When we return to Castle tonight, Castle’s fiancée is no longer Special Agent Kate Beckett. Since she was fired at the end of last episode she’s now just Kate Beckett.
According to the TVLine interview, this will leave Kate in a very weird position.
“And now I think the biggest deal for her — because she’s kind of defined herself by always fighting for the weak, fighting for the victim, fighting for justice — is that she’s left out in Nowhereland,” Katic explains.
“She has nothing to attach herself to [and] she’s kind of not sure where she stands with things because she’s defined herself so much by [her job],” Katic adds.
It’s not surprising Kate’s FBI stint did not last very long. If it had continued, the writers would have probably written themselves into a corner. This would have created the need for an unrealistic event to get out of that corner, which would have been pretty disappointing.
