Charlie Hunnam isn't the only one who doesn't like all the press and attention that came along with signing on with "Fifty Shades of Grey." A source told E! News, that Dakota Johnson, who was cast as Anastasia Steele, is also bothered by the constant attention.
"Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press," the source said. "When she first got the role, it was way too much for her."
Almost overnight the 24-year-old actress went from virtually an unknown to the "it" girl. Johnson's most notable roles were a small part in "The Social Network" and the star of "Bet & Kate," which was cancelled.
"It's been tough," the source said adding that Johnson would not be quitting the movie despite rumors that she was going to also step down.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features cited a "busy TV schedule" for why Hunnam backed out. They released a statement on Twitter saying: "The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."
There have been other reports that claim Hunnam really backed out because the spotlight was too much for him to handle.
"More than anything he hates attention and being in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' would force him to do lots of media," a source said. "That's really not his thing. Charlie doesn't want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not."
Since the shocking announcement the studios are on the hunt for the next Christian Grey. There are rumors that Robert Pattinson could have the role if he wants, Ian Somerhalder is trying to set up a screen test with Johnson to prove he can do it and producers are after Alexander Skarsgard and Jamie Dornan for the lead role.
