Amazon has yet taken another step in its quest for e-commerce domination, announcing that it is set to expand its Prime Now restaurant delivery service to 20 major U.S. cities in the near future. The program, launched in September in Seattle, gives Prime Now members the ability to order from a number of restaurants in the area using the Prime Now mobile app, according to Consumerist.
Though the restaurant delivery service in Seattle was deemed to be largely experimental, Amazon seems set on expanding the service's range, with Portland and Los Angeles recently being added to the list of metropolitan areas where the service is offered.
Prime Now, which offers customers a two-hour delivery window, has an annual $99 fee. It is currently available in several key cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Miami, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Phoenix, San Antonio, and the San Francisco Bay Area, reports Fox News.
The introduction of the restaurant delivery service does not produce any additional charges for Prime Now members. Menu prices are also not adjusted to cover delivery fees, though it is expected that Amazon will eventually start charging specifically for the service.
