The "Dancing With The Stars" finale is just around the corner, and with four amazing couples still left, only time will tell who will be walking away with the iconic Mirrorball Trophy. Going into tonight's episode, we have Bindi Irwin, Nick Carter, Carlos PenaVega and Alek Skarlatos competing against each other for the final three spots. Only one person will be eliminated tonight, and then the final three will return next Monday to dance their last dances before we find out who is crowned the winner on Tuesday night.
Tonight, we will find out who gets sent home during Semi-Finals Night, as these four stars will dance their hearts out during one of the most challenging shows in the history of "DWTS."
With Tamar Braxton pulling herself out of the competition following her hospitalization and last week's elimination of Alexa PenaVega, the four remaining couples will have to dance three dances in one night, which is something we've never seen on "DWTS," according to Buddy TV. They were only supposed to be performing two dances each, but with only four couples going into semifinals a week earlier than planned, they have been given a new Dance-Off routine to perform as well.
The first round will be individual dances, while the second round will have each couple pairing up with a professional dancer for a Trio Dance. Peta Murgatroyd will make her return following her injury earlier this year to dance with Carter and his partner Sharna Burgess, while Emma Slater will be joining Skarlatos and his partner Lindsay Arnold. This will be an interesting one as these two had some serious chemistry during Switch-Up Week, and everyone is dying to see them together on the dance floor once again. Karina Smirnoff will be joining Carlos and his partner Witney Carson while Irwin and her partner Derek Hough will be joined by Mark Ballas, who was just eliminated last week with Alexa.
For the final Dance-Off round, Irwin and Carter will go head to head with their Sambas while Carlos and Skarlatos will go head to head with Cha-Cha-Chas. Whoever wins these dance offs will earn three extra points on their total score for the night.
This season has been an extra special one, as we've seen these four stars grow and perform better than they ever imagined they could. Irwin and her Hough have remained at the top of the leaderboard throughout the entire show, and it would be a huge surprise if they didn't win the whole thing. Irwin is not only an incredible dancer, but her positive attitude and cheerful personality has continued to win the judges over week after week.
If they win, it would be the sixth Mirrorball trophy for Hough, and at just 17 years old, Irwin would tie for youngest winner on "DWTS" with gymnast Shawn Johnson, who was also 17 when she won the trophy with her partner Ballas during Season Eight. Hough already holds the record for most wins, so number six would keep him in that top spot.
Carter has remained towards the top throughout the entire season as well, with his days as a Backstreet Boy definitely helping his popularity and dancing ability. American hero Skarlatos has not done so well score wise compared to the other three, but his charm and heroic past have made him a favorite among viewers. Carlos has done surprisingly well and has improved the most out of the remaining four, but he has landed in the jeopardy a few times now.
While it seems almost obvious that Irwin will be the clear and well-deserved winner with Carter coming in second place, it's hard to tell if PenaVega, who is the better dancer, or Skarlatos, who is more popular, will be headed to the finale.
