Despite its popularity, using eyelash curlers to make the lashes longer and the eyes prettier can be troublesome. The result doesn't always come out perfectly as some women still end up with straight lashes. But Korean beauty shop owner Angela Kim from Insider Beauty shares this interesting eyelash curling hack that makes use of few other items at home besides the lash curlers.
"Korean women tend to have sparse and straight lashes that have difficulty holding a curl," Kim told The Coveteur. "There's a plethora of electric eyelash curlers available on the Korean beauty market, but many women complain that they take too long to heat up."
Kim said this method is popular among South Korean makeup artists who work on celebrities. The process involves cotton Q-tips (or other cotton swab applicators), a lighter (or matches) and mascara. Using any regular eyelash curler is optional and everything takes ten minutes to do.
First, use the lash curlers as usual and then apply double coats of mascara. Then, break off the cotton at the end of the Q-tip, and discard the part with the cotton. Light the other end for six seconds, with its tip warm but not burning. It also shouldn't emit smoke. If it does, you'll need to replace it.
Test the tip on your hand before using it for your lashes first. If the temperature is comfortable and doesn't burn, carefully dab the warm tip from the roots of your lashes to the tips, mimicking how you would apply mascara. Do this at least five times. If the mascara you've applied early clumps, smooth it with the mascara brush and you're done.
The curls should last all day without any drooping. The technique is similar to using an electric lash curler, only it's cheaper and readily available at home, according to Byrdie.

A word of caution for those who are not experienced with curling lashes though, as heating - either using this method or an electric curling iron - can cause breakage and damage if not done right, according to Infinite Lashes. Also take note that you're working on your eyes, a rather important organ, so take extra care when doing this.
