On Oct. 13, former NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel following a cocaine and herbal Viagra overdose. He has remained in the hospital ever since, and a district attorney has now revealed that he could be facing drug charges for his binge at the brothel.
"The Nye Country Sherriff's Office has now asked the Nye County District Attorney's Office to review a request for prosecution against Lamar Odom for Use of, or Under the Influence of, a Controlled Substance," Nye County DA Angela A. Bello told People. "The D.A.'s office will take the time needed to appropriately review that request, along with all evidence that might support that request, in order to reach a just conclusion regarding whether to advance charges."
While some would call Odom's survival a miracle, he still has a long road to recovery ahead of him. During Monday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," his estranged wife, Khloé Kardashian, who has remained by Odom's side, told the host that he is unaware why he is even in the hospital.
"We tell him he had a brain injury," Kardashian said, while also adding that he doesn't ask what happened to him. "I can't tell him how that brain injury was caused because it will set him back. He's really confused a lot, so we have to remind him. Every day is different."
Odom suffered several strokes from the moment he overdosed to the moment he woke up from his coma, which resulted in major brain and kidney damage. "He is learning how to walk again and feed himself again, put sentences together," Kardashian continued to say, explaining that he still has trouble speaking. "He is off of all machines that help his organs, but still he has such a long way to go...It's a long, long road ahead."
