Joey Feek, one-half of the country music husband and wife duo Joey + Rory, is nearing the end of her battle with terminal cancer and she's spending as much time as she can with family and friends. Joey's husband Rory captured a sweet moment as Joey embraced their daughters and shared the photo on Facebook over the weekend, Entertainment Tonight reported.
"Our girls drove up here last night to spend more time with their mom and baby sister," Rory wrote in the Facebook caption.
The photo was shot overhead, looking down at Joey as she wrapped her arms around her girls, with stepdaughters Heidi and Hopie cuddled up next to her on either side. Indiana, the 2-year-old daughter Joey shares with Rory, was nestled in between her big sisters in her mom's lap.
Joey was placed under hospice care at her home in Indiana earlier this month after she decided to stop her treatment, as previously reported by HNGN. After she was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer earlier this year, she underwent chemotherapy, radiation and a hysterectomy in order to combat her illness. Her cancer returned so aggressively that doctors estimated that she has less than six months to live.
Rory has been documenting Joey's last days on his blog "This Life I Live," and detailed a visit from all of Joey's old neighbors and friends. The music duo's former tour bus driver, Russell Brisby, picked up the group of about a dozen people, Rory wrote, and drove them from the town near Nashville where the couple own a farmhouse to Joey's childhood home in Indiana.
"It was like a dream," Joey told Rory after the visit, "a sweet dream."
