The Western Michigan Broncos travel to Huskie Stadium to face the Northern Illinois Huskies in a crucial Mid-American Conference matchup. The winner of this game is alive for the MAC title, while the loser will be eliminated from a chance to win the conference title. The Huskies are coming in at 7-3 on the season and will look to keep momentum rolling as they have won five straight games. The Broncos sit at 6-4 on the season and are looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Bowling Green last week.
Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell leads the broncos offense and will look to find the endzone after struggling last week. Terrell has 2,651 passing yards on the year and has thrown 23 touchdowns in his junior season. Terrell will look to target top wide receivers Corey Davis and Daniel Braverman Wednesday night.
Davis is a junior wide receiver for the Broncos who is coming off a huge game in a loss to Bowling Green. The Broncos junior wideout caught 13 passes for 159 yards last week, but Western Michigan was unable to get a touchdown through their passing game. Davis has reportedly been impressing NFL scouts and will likely be a NFL wide receiver at some point, depending on if he chooses to return for his senior season. Braverman leads the team in receiving yards with 1,062 yards and has scored 11 touchdowns for the Broncos this season. Head coach P.J. Fleck will make sure to get the ball in his talented receivers hands Wednesday night, as this game will probably be a shootout.
Freshman quarterback Ryan Graham made his first start of the season last week, as the Huskies lost quarterback Drew Hare for the season with a ruptured Achilles. The Huskies freshman quarterback played well in his first start, throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Buffalo 41-30. Head coach Rod Carey will look to have a balanced offense against the Broncos, as he will want to keep his freshman quarterback protected.
Carey will make sure to get running back Joel Bouagnon plenty of carries Wednesday night, as he leads the Huskies in rushing yards. Northern Illinois' junior running back has rushed for 1,105 yards this season and has scored 17 touchdowns. Bouagnon will look to pick up where he left off last week when he averaged 5.6 yards per carry and rushed for 156 yards with two touchdowns.
This game will have a huge impact on which team wins the Mid-American West division, as both the Huskies and the Broncos only have one conference loss this season.
