A wind storm is barreling through the Northwest United States causing massive chaos, leaving a million people without power and at least three people dead, according to the Weather Channel. Powerful winds were recorded to be as high as 119 miles per hour with the destructive force capable of ripping roofs from homes, pushing over vehicles and knocking trees down.
Fallen trees were responsible for the deaths of at least three people in Washington. A 20-year-old man was killed after a tree fell down on his car Tuesday afternoon around 1 p.m., according to KomoNews.
A woman died after a tree fell on her car as well, as she was traveling on Highway 904, just 15 miles from Spokane, and another woman, who was in her 50s, was killed by a falling tree too, according to ABC News.
The massive amount of falling trees and strong winds have made traveling a dangerous and frightful chore, not to mention the damage they has caused to power lines, leaving hundreds of thousands without power, according to NBC News.
"Given the typical ratio of power customers to actual people, this means at least 1 million people were affected by power outages in Washington alone," said meteorologist Nick Wiltgen.
