Dax Shepard, 38, and Kristen Bell, 33, have officially tied the knot, only they've done it without any fanfare or ceremonials at the Beverly Hills County Clerk office in Los Angeles, TMZ reports.
The couple, who have a 7-month-old daughter named Lincoln together, had originally planned to wait to get married until same-sex marriage became legal in the state of California. When asked by Celebuzz back in 2012 whether or not they were planning on it, Bell responded, "We've been very vocal about not wanting to be married in a state that doesn't allow that right to all of its citizens. We'll wait until California gets on the right side of history."
When the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in June, Bell "re-proposed" to Shepherd via Twitter in celebration.
According to TMZ, a photographer was present at the courthouse wedding of Shepard and Bell, and Bell was crying. Originally the two had gone to the clerk office just to obtain their marriage license, but eyewitnesses report that a court employee offered to marry them on the spot in a nearby courtroom and they readily agreed.
"We're not having a wedding," Bell told E! News last month. "It's not a desire of either of ours to have any sort of day of celebration for us. I feel like we get enough attention in our daily lives and we just want something sort of private that involves pen and paper."
Currently Bell has been working on the forthcoming and highly anticipated "Veronica Mars" movie, which will take place several years from where the series ended, featuring a star-studded cast and some special guest stars that Bell refused to spoil for fans. After the movie, the store will continue in the form of a two-book series written by show creator, Rob Thomas.
Thomas's original Kickstarter campaign was launched back in February with the goal of raising $2 million in two months. The goal was met and surpassed in less than 24 hours, eventually raising $5 million towards production.
