Ryan Murphy revealed the end of "Glee" on Wednesday, and the show's cast agree with his decision.
The "Glee" creator talked to reporters during a Paley Center event honoring the FX network. Murphy confirmed the show will end after season 6, but he's unsure how it will end.
"The whole [last] year of the show - which will be next year - was really designed around Rachel-Cory/Finn story. I always knew that. I always knew how it would end," Murphy said. "I knew what the last shot was - he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do."
However, the cast does agree it's time to move on from "Glee," according to PerezHilton.com.
"Everyone within the cast is on board for the show to end after season six," a source close to the show told the gossip site.
The insider also revealed Lea Michele is ready to move on from "Glee" and take the next step in her career.
"Lea wants a movie career and she wants to make sure that the other people in the cast get enough time to save some money and spend some time to figure out what to do with their careers," the insider said.
Lea recently opened up about filming "The Quarterback" special for "Glee." The 26-year-old is still struggling with the death of on and off screen love, Cory Monteith:
"For me personally, I've lost two people: Cory and Finn. We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic."
