Louisiana Prisoners Make Gun From Soap, Toilet Paper To Use In Escape

A pair of prisoners in Louisiana made a fake gun with soap and toilet paper with plans to use it during their big break out, according to the New York Daily News. Louisiana Corrections officials found the fake gun hidden in a cell at Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on Nov. 10, according to a statement released by Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office Friday.

During the cell block search, they also discovered a handcuff key swiped up and hidden after a corrections officer accidentally dropped it on the floor.

Inmate Troy Benner, 49, already in for armed robbery, was in possession of both keys and the soap gun, KPLC TV reported. Investigators said that he planned to use both for a prison break accompanied by another inmate, Treiston Pierron, held at the detention center on arson charges and outstanding warrants.

Pierron, 32, has since been charged for assisting escape, with his bond increased t $300,000, as deputies said that he knew about Benner's activities and had actively helped in the planning, according to The Huffington Post. Benner, 49, has been charged with attempted simple escape, with his bond increased to $400,000.
