LSU head coach Les Miles' contract reportedly has "a very good possibility" of being bought out, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. Boosters have reportedly already agreed to pay $15-20 million needed to buy out Miles and his staff, according to tweet posted by SportsCenter that can be seen below.
Miles was reportedly coaching for his job in the last two games of this season, and Saturday's 38-17 loss to Ole Miss was not what the university or its fans wanted to see. The Tigers started the season 7-0 but have lost three straight by a margin of 99-47.
Many are calling for Miles' job, as the Tigers have declined in conference play the past four seasons. LSU's SEC records have been 6-2 (2012), 5-3 (2013), 4-4 (2014) and now 4-3 in conference play. "In Louisiana, we expect national championships, and we're not in it," said a source connected to the buyout, via ESPN. "If we were competing for a national championship this year, well then we wouldn't be having this conversation.
The failure to beat Alabama is reportedly a major reason Miles' contact will allegedly be bought out. Miles is in his 11th season as the Tigers had coach and has won a national championship, as well as two SEC championships during his tenure. It's crazy to think that he will be gone after posting a 110-32 record as the Tigers head coach, but the university does not care about his past but what he has done this season. The Tigers face Texas A&M on Saturday, and it will be interesting to see how his team performs given the news that this is likely his last year in Baton Rouge.
