Jared Fogle's Wife Finalizes Divorce, Experts Say Prison Will Not Be Safe And That He Should Be 'Scared For His Life'

It's been a rough couple of months for former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle and now that he has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for child pornography and admitted to having sex with minors, his wife Katie has finalized their divorce after five years of marriage.

The divorce documents, which Katie filed on August 19 - the day he confessed to his acts-state that she will be receiving a $7 million settlement, according to E! News. She will also be getting sole legal and physical custody of their two children, Brady, 4, and Quinn, 2, which is not what Jared, 38, originally wanted.

"Father is an admitted pedophile and consumer of child pornography," Katie's lawyer said while arguing his request to still be able to see his children. "The potential risk that Father poses to the children is both obvious and unacceptable."

In order to help the children deal with their father being away for 15 years, Katie will be allowing them to speak to him on the phone a few times a day, even though they have not seen him in person since August.

The documents say that their marriage has been "irretrievably broken and dissolved," according to Us Weekly. She has already returned to her maiden name of McLaughlin.

When she first learned that her now ex-husband had pleaded guilty to these disturbing cases, she couldn't believe it. In a document written by her counsel James Reed, it says that she was "shocked and disturbed to learn of these abhorring developments, and she has been working tirelessly since in an attempt to provide a sense of security and normality for the parties' young children."

The 15 years in federal prison will not be easy for Fogle as he is entering a marked man. Experts have revealed to In Touch Weekly that prisoners despise pedophiles. "They'll want to take justice into their own hands-string him up and rape or kill him," one former jail worker said.

"He's well-known," correctional consultant James Esten added, saying that he will not be able to hide. "He'll be a marked man as soon as he steps behind bars. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a gang of guys who hate him and are already talking about what they want to do with him. I've seen instances where a prisoner figures out how to pop the cell door and almost beat another inmate to death. No prison is going to want the press that comes with Jared getting killed, so they are going to try to keep him safe, but really there's no way you can guarantee that."

Incarceration consultant Joe Gunja, who worked for years in the federal prison system, agrees with everything these guys are saying.

"Officials will keep a close eye on him, but they aren't going to babysit him," he said. "He should stick to himself and ignore anyone that messes with him. But if I were him, I'd be scared for my life."
