The Baylor Bears travel to Amon G. Carter Stadium Friday evening to face the TCU Horned Frogs in a huge Big 12 matchup. The Bears can still win a third consecutive Big 12 title with a win over TCU and Texas and if Oklahoma State can beat Oklahoma on Saturday. The Horned Frogs can't win the Big 12 title this season but would love to knock Baylor out of contention, as the Bears gave them their only loss in 2014.
It's unknown if TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin will be able to play Friday night, as he sat out last week against Oklahoma with an ankle injury. Boykin has had an incredible season, throwing for 3,427 yards with 29 touchdowns to nine interceptions. If Boykin can't play Friday, head coach Gary Patterson stated that backup quarterback Bram Kohlhausen has the edge to start this week.
The Horned Frogs' backup quarterback played well in relief last week and threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns against Oklahoma. TCU will be without star wide receiver Josh Doctson again this weekend with a wrist injury, and Patterson will look to establish a strong ground game with running back Aaron Green on Friday night. Green is the Horned Frogs' leading rusher this season with 1,099 yards and 10 touchdowns. The senior running back has seen 53 carries the past two weeks and is expected to see a ton more against the Bears.
TCU isn't the only team wondering about its quarterback situation, as Baylor head coach Art Briles lost another quarterback last week when Jarrett Stidham suffered a broken ankle. Third-string quarterback Chris Johnson will need to lead his team to victory on Friday and hopes to keep the Bears' championship hopes alive. The Bears' third-string quarterback led his team to a huge win over Oklahoma State last week and scored three touchdowns in the process.
Johnson will target Bears' star wideout Corey Coleman Friday night, as he is one of the best wide receivers in all of college football. Coleman has 1,306 receiving yards this season with 20 touchdowns. Baylor's junior wide receiver has been held without a touchdown the past two games after starting the season with a touchdown in every game.
It's a huge rivalry game between two programs in Texas who have dominated in recent years. Baylor is looking to keep itself alive for a Big 12 title, but the Horned Frogs are undefeated at home this season. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, and you can watch the live broadcast here.
