John Legend celebrated wife Chrissy Teigen's 30th birthday early this year by throwing her a surprise party that included a special serenade. On Saturday, the 36-year-old singer hosted the birthday bash for his wife at New York City's Comedy Cellar, just two days before she turned 30 on Monday, according to Us Weekly.
Legend serenaded his wife as he led a chorus of "Happy Birthday" and presented her with a huge cupcake birthday creation. Legend and Teigen are professed foodies and the menu, which a party goer shared on Twitter, was catered by NYC's popular restaurant Momofuku and was full of several dim sum choices.
The supermodel stunned party goers with her form-fitting orange dress that showed off her growing baby bump, according to New York Daily News. Legend even took things to another level when he surprised his wife with a special comedy performance by the legendary Dave Chappelle.
"Last night, my bro Dave Chappelle was the surprise performer at @chrissyteigen's bday celebration," the party's deejay DJ D-Nice captioned a photo of Chappelle on stage. "@johnlegend only wanted the best for his wife." "Happy Birthday @chrissyteigen!" he captioned another photo of the happy couple. "@johnlegend, thanks for allowing me to DJ the celebration. The room was full of love."
Their friend Simon Huck also posted a video of Legend singing to his wife. "Happy birthday to the [queen] of comedy @chrissyteigen," he wrote. "No one funnier, more generous, or salt of the earth than you."
The two are known for their generosity and they made sure to give back this past weekend. When they heard about the deadly shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs on Friday, they did something about it as quickly as possible. "Every time s---t like this happens, john and I immediately make another donation to planned parenthood," she tweeted. Legend then retweeted it and Teigen also shared a link to the non-profit's online donation page.
