Sylvester Stallone may be having the best week ever.
His work in the "Rocky" sequel, "Creed," is receiving rave reviews (and Oscar buzz) and on Tuesday, Fox closed a development deal for "Rambo: New Blood," a TV series based on his Stallone's other popular franchise, according to Deadline.
Stallone's participation on screen in the "Rambo" TV series about Rambo and his son is still unknown.
Jeb Stuart, the screenwriter for "Die Hard" and "The Fugitive," will write the new show, which "pays homage to the films, exploring the complex relationship between Rambo and his son, J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL."

Linda Ellerbee Announces Retirement from "Nick News"
Nickelodeon will celebrate the historic run of its kids news program, "Nick News," in a series finale special airing on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. Linda Ellerbee, who recently announced her retirement after more than 40 years as journalist, will reflect on her award-winning series' most poignant stories and discussions.
"Possibly the most important truth I take with me is the firm knowledge that you are never too old to learn from young," Ellerbee said in a statement. "I've been a television journalist for 43 years, and I'm pretty sure I've been the luckiest journalist on television. It's been a great ride, all of it, but it's time to go, and I go smiling."
Nigel Lythgoe Will Return to Produce "American Idol" Finale
Longtime "American Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe will return to executive producer the final episode of the Fox singing competition show's farewell season, according to Variety. Lythgoe previously served as an executive producer on the first through the seventh season and then returned for seasons 10 through 13.
Amazon's "Mozart in the Jungle" Returns for a Second Season
The Amazon original series "Mozart in the Jungle" will return for its second season on Dec. 30. The show is inspired by oboist Blair Tindall's memoir, "Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs and Classical Music," about her professional career in New York City.

UNDATEABLE: Chris D'Elia will host a "Whitney" reunion with his former co-star Whitney Cummings on his NBC comedy, according to TVLine. She will appear in a multi-episode arc starting on Dec. 4.
Cummings will play Charlotte, a bar patron who is the female version of Danny (D'Elia) and exactly what he's been looking for.
BRAINDEAD: The upcoming CBS drama has cast Danny Pino to star opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead, according to Deadline. From "The Good Wife" creators, Winstead plays Laurel, a fresh-faced Hill staffer who makes a chilling discovery of an alien nature during her first job in Washington D.C.
Pino will play Luke, Laurel's (Winstead) older brother, the Democratic Whip Senator from Maryland.
ROSEWOOD: The sun-soaked Fox drama has booked Sherri Shepherd and Joy Bryant for recurring roles in its first season.
Sherri Shepherd will recur as the new M.E., Dr. Anita Eubanks, who is confident, flirty, playful, smart, wise-cracking and good at her job, according to Deadline. She's an old friend of Rosewood (Morris Chestnut), who she unabashedly flirts with and does a favor for as well as providing him with unexpected information.
Bryant could serve as a potential love interest for Rosewood. She will play, Dr. Erica Kincaid, a cardiologist who takes the M.E. on as a new patient, according to Entertainment Weekly.
CRIMINAL MINDS: The CBS procedural will welcome former "Parks & Recreation" star, Aubrey Plaza, as Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) psychotic dinner date, according to TVLine. She will appear in the Jan. 13 episode.
Plaza will play Cat Adams, who pulls a gun on Reid during their date and reveals that she knows he's a FBI agent. She then makes him think quickly to save himself and the restaurant full of unsuspecting patrons.
MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: Creator Joel Hodgson has nabbed another member of nerd royalty for his Kickstarter-funded reboot. Patton Oswalt has been announced to play the new Evil Henchman, TV's Son of TV's Frank.

- E! renewed “#RichKids of Beverly Hills” for a fourth season, set to premiere in 2016.
- CBS ordered seven more episodes of “Supergirl” for a full season order of 20 total episodes.
- Disney XD has ordered a third season of the animated series, “Star Wars Rebels,” scheduled to air in 2016.
- ABC Family renewed “The Fosters” for a fourth season. The third season continues with all-new episodes on Monday, Jan. 25.
