CHP Rescues Pig Sleeping On Shoulder Of Highway

When California Highway Patrol Officer Ken Enger received a call about a pig napping on the highway, he switched from CHP mode to animal control mode swiftly as he located the giant pig near Santa Rosa.

Citizens spotted the napping pig, which weighs between 600 and 800 pounds, and several made calls to the police concerned for her safety.

"She was sleeping in the sun, on the right shoulder, relaxing," said Enger, according to CBS Sacramento. Enger spotted the pig on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue Friday morning.

Enger got the pig, now known as June, to safety on the side of the road, after which Sonoma County Animal Services was called, but not before Engers posed with June for a selfie to place on CHP's Facebook, where June's owner spotted her.

"I can't believe she got out. I'm sooo sorry," Gino Bagala posted in response to finding his pig online, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. "When will I be able to come get her?"

"I'm so glad he's ok. Drove by him around 8. He was the size of a small cow. So majestic! Someone is missing him for certain," Jennifer Kirk-O'Connor added to the Facebook comment thread.

June is now happily at home where she belongs, napping off her big adventure, according to Breitbart.
