Bethany the Corgi was headed for Mississippi, but she ended up in Honolulu thanks to an airline mishap.
The dog was moving to her new owners in Jackson, Miss. from her home in Seattle. The flight had a stopover and a transfer at Dallas, which is where the mix-up happened.
The issue came to light when Bethany was reported missing by her breeder, Paul Chen, reported TIME.
The Corgi has since reached home after staying for a while in Hawaii "to make sure she is well-rested," said American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein, according to Hawaii News Now. "We apologize to Bethany and her owner for the extra flight to Honolulu, and look forward to introducing her to her new owner very soon," Feinstein added.
"She took a little bit of a vacation. She has been very well taken care of the entire time," said AA spokeswoman Andrea Huguely, reported Condé Nast Traveler.
Bethany was watched over by a veterinarian during her "stop over" in Hawaii while American Airlines customer service updated the breeder owner every hour about her condition.
