Minneapolis: Black Lives Matter Protesters Arrested

After more than two weeks of protesting outside the Fourth Precinct in Minneapolis, Black Lives Matter activists were forced to disperse in the early hours of Dec. 3. Most protesters heeded the 4 a.m. warning from police that told them to leave the area, but eight were arrested.

Police officers ordered the 50 demonstrators to disperse and began tearing down tents within 15 minutes of their arrival to the site. Those who refused to leave were arrested, reported Twin Cities.

The group had been camping out at the precinct in light of the recent shooting and killing of Jamar Clark, a 24-year-old black man, during an altercation with police. They are demanding that videos that show the footage of the shooting be released and that a special prosecutor be appointed to determine the fate of the policemen in question (instead of leaving the decision to a grand jury). Neither of these demands have been met, reported KnoxNews.

Dump trucks and bulldozers drove through the protest site once it had been evacuated, and all the tents, food and supplies that the protesters had brought were ruined, according to ABC News. A barricade was then erected around the precinct.
