Rockstar Games launched the multiplayer experience for its immensely popular "Grand Theft Auto V" title "GTA Online" at the beginning of this month. Unfortunately early startup issues like losing character progression as well as personal vehicles plagued the launch. As a result Rockstar has since offered all players who played the game during the month of October a $500,000 in-game rebate of cash for players to spend on their character.
The first of two $250,000 in-game cash installments was slated to come out sometime this week. Unfortunately for those who were looking forward to a big cash payout for the weekend, Rockstar has announced that it will need to push back the release of this rebate money.
The money is absolutely still on its way to gamers, but it seems there's no longer a set ETA according to IGN. A post on the Rockstar Newswire explains that the studio wants to make sure all of the game's bugs have been completely dealt with before they give people money that they could then accidentally spend in vain.
"We hope to have an update for you on that very soon," the post reads. "As others have mentioned here, we of course want to make sure player progress loss issues are addressed before providing everyone with their GTA$500K. Thanks for your patience and please stay tuned."
The news comes on the heels of the news that a repeat missions payouts have been cut in half by the game developers. Presumably this is an effort to stop the economy from going way out of control once everyone has a surplus of excess cash to spend following the stimulus package from Rockstar Games.
There is no official word yet on just when each player will receive the first half of their $500,000 rebate but odds are good it will be coming in the next few weeks.
