NBA Live 14 Features: [WATCH] Video Explains BounceTek and Dribbling Moves; More Footage to Come

A week after EA Sports released its first Gameplay Trailer for “NBA Live 14”, the NBA Live team decided to release videos further explaining ball handling within the game.

Executive Producer Sean O’Brien and his team have boasted about the game’s BounceTek feature which is supposed to create a realistic ball handling experience.

The videos were a part of an article, written by Gameplay Designer Scott O’Gallagher, outlining that experience. According to O’Gallagher, there are three levels of dribbling that can be mastered in “NBA Live 14” in order to make the game more realistic and enjoyable.

“The driving force behind player movement is the ability to put control in your hands and allow you as a player to be as creative as possible,” he writes. “The ability to mix and match moves from all three levels creates a nearly infinite amount of opportunity, letting you orchestrate your offense in the same manner as the NBA’s greatest floor generals.”

Check out each of the videos below.

O’Gallagher also says defenders’ response to the various dribbling moves is another area in which the game is authentic.

“It’s also important to note that each defender reacts differently depending on the particular player and/or move they are defending,” he explains. “Defenders are more likely to retreat on a dribble move from Rajon Rondo due to his lack of a perimeter shot – while they are more likely to crowd a player like Steve Nash because of how well he shoots from the outside.”

While these explanations are well done and very detailed, the proof will be when gamers get an actual 5-on-5 preview and not just a trailer. I would like to see O’Gallagher narrate over some gameplay which would be much more effective in getting fans to greater anticipate the game.

To his credit, O’Gallagher said he would post another video explaining how to perform various moves. To view the full article on ball handling click here.

“NBA Live 14” debuts on Nov 19 in North America for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will hit stores worldwide on Nov. 22 for the Xbox One and Nov. 29 for the PlayStation 4.
