The Devialet Phantom Implosive Sound Center, a revolutionary speaker system that has been regarded as the best speaker in the world, will be made available in the top 14 Apple Stores across the United States, with wide availability to follow in 2016, according to Tech Crunch.
The speaker's two iterations, the 750-watt, 99-db Phantom and the 3000-watt, 105-db Phantom Silver, sell for $1,990 and $2,390, respectively. The device's price in the Apple store is completely identical to the price a person would pay if the device were purchased directly from Devialet.
Once the speakers go on sale, they will be the second and third most expensive speakers that are offered in the Apple Store, just behind Bang & Olufsen's BeoPlay A9 floor-standing unit. Though small and portable, the Phantom has been hailed as well worth its premium price, with publications such as Rolling Stone giving the product rave reviews, reports Apple Insider.
Devialet CEO Quentin Sannié is very optimistic about the partnership with Apple. "Working with Apple has been a long-held dream of Devialet since the company's inception," he said, according to Venture Beat.
"Like Apple, our products share the same level of category re-invention, premium quality and the acclaim of consumers worldwide, all fueled by a high degree of investment: $25M and 10 years of R&D just for Phantom."
The Phantom features a unique technology which enables the small speaker to fill a room with omnidirectional sound. By expanding and contracting its walls, the Phantom produces 1.2 tons of pressure which then enables it to produce 20 times the power of premium speakers that are comparable in size.
