China's Attack Robots: Urban Team-Fighting Robots That Can Fight Terrorism Now On Sale

The anti-terror robots that a Chinese robotics company unveiled during the 2015 World Robot Conference in Beijing are now available for sale in time for holiday shopping. The set of three robots will cost buyers around $235,000, and it is not only available to the Chinese police force but also to international buyers.

The team of robots is designed by HIT Robot Group for urban warfare. The first is an armed model that can be equipped with weapons such as assault rifles, grenades and recoilless rifles. There is also a recon variant, which can be used for surveillance. They have state-of-the-art NBC detectors that enable them to be sent as an advance reconnaisance unit. Rounding up the team is the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) machine, which is capable of dismantling bombs and other hazards, Popular Science reported.

The robotic trio can be employed as part of SWAT operations or during couterterrorism operations. "Apart from anti-terror operations, they can also be applied in firefighting, public security, forestry and agriculture," Chen Deqiang, sales manager at HIT Robot Group, told the Daily Mail.

What is also interesting is that the proprietary technology allows the robots to coordinate with each other in the battlefield. All the robots are also controlled remotely.
