Rita Wilson announced that she has won the battle against breast cancer at The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast on Wednesday.
"I am cancer free. I'm one hundred percent healthy!" the actress said at the event, according to People.
The "Sleepless in Seattle" star was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, prompting her to take a medical leave from the Broadway production "Fish in the Dark," in which she was starring alongside Larry David.
"Last week, with my husband by my side, and with the love and support of family and friends, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer after a diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma," she wrote at the time, as HNGN previously reported.
Wilson, who is the wife of actor Tom Hanks, took to Twitter to thank friends, family and fans for their overwhelming support after announcing her cancer diagnosis. "I am overwhelmed with gratitude by your prayers and good wishes and the kindness you're sending," she wrote. "Thank you. Thank you."
Wilson said on Wednesday that she will be going on tour with her band next year and hubby dearest will be joining her on the road.
"I feel really blessed and very lucky," she said, according to The Huffington Post. "Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do, and it's not a death sentence like it used to be," she added.
