'Call of Duty: Ghosts' Multiplayer: Extinction Mode Trailer Revealed by Activision (WATCH)

Earlier today we reported on some of the leaks about "Call of Duty: Ghosts" rumored alien fighting mode to replace Nazi Zombies. Activision even put a teaser trailer up on its Instagram page. Now, the game developer has released a full trailer to promote the new end game mode that's packed full of action, alien pods, explosions and, of course, aliens being shot.

"Our world, broken, abandoned, But far from empty," the opening voiceover says to launch the new four player co-op game type. "This is not the world we remember, but this is out home and they are trespassing."

From the trailer it looks similar to Nazi Zombies in that it works as a stand-alone game plot detached from the reality of whatever the game's campaign mode will be. Details for the game type are sketchy but from the trailer it looks like you and your three friends will be responsible for protecting a nuke while it prepares to launch. You'll use various methods of defense against different types of aliens.

The video shows turrets, flying drones and rocket launches as some of the choices to combat the new science-fiction inspired threat. At the end of the video, the characters are seen running to a chopper, this could be an indication that there is in fact a way to beat the Extinction game-type. Unlike its Zombie predecessor, which only allowed players to battle until they were eventually overrun with the undead threat, Extinction might offer users the ability to hold out long enough and nuke the threat back into space.

The news, reported earlier had to do with several leaks that hinted at the existence of Extinction Mode. Among these were screen shots posted to Imgur as well as a list of "Call of Duty: Ghosts" achievements that included the Extinction Mode and several other hints and messages.
