Dog treats are often given by the owners to their four-legged friends as a reward for either performing a trick or for good behavior, but a popular dog treat has been recalled for possible contamination, according to Woman's Day. The Nutro Company has announced a voluntary recall of its popular Chewy Apple Dog treats because of "potential mold."
"Please stop feeding this product to your pet and bring any remaining Nutro 4 oz. Apple Chewy Treats affected by this recall to your nearest PetSmart for a full refund," PetSmart Corporate said.
Not all batches of treats will be completely recalled. Only those with the codes 4 50, 5 02, 5 03 and 5 05 will be affected. Batch numbers can be found on the bottom of the bags next to the "best buy" date.
The company is currently getting word out about the voluntary recall through its distributors such as PetSmart, but have made no mention of the danger on its website, according to The Dodo.
