U.S. President Barack Obama is set to visit San Bernardino, Calif., on Friday, Dec. 18, to interact with families of victims of the mass shooting. A workplace holiday party in San Bernardino was attacked on Dec. 2 by a gun-wielding husband-and-wife team of Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, 29. The attack left 14 dead and 21 injured, as reported by HNGN.
Obama had addressed the nation after the attacks and had said, "We will prevail by being strong and smart, resilient and relentless," in an address from the Oval Office. Obama reassured Americans about his plans to combat terrorism and the Islamic State to quell the widespread fear suffered by U.S. citizens surrounding the attack.
Obama is visiting San Bernardino en route to Hawaii for his Christmas vacation, reports New York Daily News. The First Family will accompany the President, and they shall proceed to Honolulu after meeting the families, reports CNN. No additional details have been provided.
"While he is en route to Honolulu, the president will stop in San Bernardino, California to visit privately with the families of the victims of the terror attack in San Bernardino earlier this month," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said, according to NDTV. Media access to the meeting has not been planned as of now, Earnest added.
