Time magazine has shortlisted eight candidates for its Person of the Year 2015 honor, and Donald Trump made the cut.
Trump's "populist rhetoric has made him frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential candidacy and stirred debate about the party's future," reads Time's description of Trump.
Islamic State leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, Black Lives Matter activists, Caitlyn Jenner, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani are the other shortlisted finalists. Time's Person of the Year will be announced on "The Today Show" on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 9, reports USA Today. Readers can cast their votes on Today News.
It is ironic that Trump with his strong anti-Muslim stance is on the shortlist with Baghdadi, who has claimed responsibility for many of the recent terrorist attacks across the world and is credited with inspiring the San Bernardino, Calif., carnage.
The Ebola Fighters were last year's Time Person of the Year, according to WNCN.
